Beware of phishing emails, texts during Annual Benefits Enrollment

This week, employees began receiving Annual Benefits Enrollment information from Marquette University via U.S. mail. At the same time, some employees have been receiving emails and texts—these are not from the university; they are phishing scams. Please be aware that Marquette Human Resources will not ask you to provide personal benefit information via email or text.

Legitimate emails will be sent to employees during Annual Enrollment, Oct. 23 through Nov. 6 or next week while benefit educator appointment scheduling is available. HR works with an external benefits administrator (Optavise) to facilitate benefit educator appointments, manage our enrollment software (Bswift) and help ensure a smooth enrollment. There are several addresses you can expect to receive email from during Annual Enrollment depending on how you enroll. These are legitimate and contain valuable information approved by HR:

  • benefits@marquette.edu – You will receive information including links to enrollment documents from this HR email. Please note that you can go directly to the HR website to obtain this same information.
  • MCOptavise@Optavise.com – You will receive multiple emails throughout Annual Enrollment to provide information and remind you to enroll before the enrollment deadline from this Optavise email.
  • no-reply_marquette@bswift.com – You will receive confirmation of benefit enrollment statements from this email from Bswift following a benefit educator appointment or your self-enrollment.
  • noreply@timetap.com – When you schedule an appointment with a benefits educator, this is the email address the initial appointment confirmation comes from immediately after the appointment is scheduled. If a virtual appointment is selected, the email will include the virtual enrollment link. Virtual appointments are not through Microsoft Teams; please click the link provided in the appointment confirmation email to join your virtual appointment.

If you schedule a phone appointment, the benefits educator will call you directly at your appointment time at the number you provide when registering. Please watch for the call at your scheduled appointment time and ensure that your phone hasn’t blocked the call.

Employees may also choose to enroll themselves beginning Monday, Oct. 23, at 8 a.m. Additional Annual Enrollment information is available on the Human Resources website.
