Marquette, which is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, is currently going through its reaffirmation of accreditation — a process the university goes through every 10 years to maintain its accreditation.
As part of the process, Marquette’s HLC Leadership Team developed a report that was submitted to the HLC following feedback from the campus community. This report — called an assurance argument — is available on the Marquette reaffirmation of accreditation website and addresses the five criteria associated with accreditation, and we as an institution are called upon to demonstrate, with the use of evidence, the ways in which Marquette meets or exceeds criteria expectations. A briefing document that summarizes the assurance argument is also available on the reaffirmation of accreditation website.
The final step in the process is an HLC peer review team to visit campus on Oct. 2-3. The HLC peer review team is scheduled to meet with a diverse range of Marquette leaders and stakeholders, including President Lovell; members of the Board of Trustees; and members of the campus community who contribute to mission, student success, and diversity, equity and inclusion work that contributes to a culture of belonging.
During their site visit, the HLC peer review team is hosting open meetings for faculty, students, and staff. Members of these groups are encouraged to attend on the dates and times noted below. Registration is not required.

Following the site visit, the HLC will provide Marquette with its decision regarding reaffirmation of accreditation. This decision is expected in Spring 2024 and will be shared with campus when it is available.
