Dear friends of the College of Education,
I hope you enjoyed the summer and took some time to rest and recharge. As we kick off the 2023-24 academic year, the College of Education does so with a clear mission.
We are at a critical point when it comes to shortages across the educational and mental health counseling fields, something the College of Education is attuned to and working diligently to address. Some of our efforts are detailed in the stories you’ll find in this digital publication.
The College of Education is addressing a need for adolescent behavioral health care providers through our Department of Counselor Education and Counseling Psychology. Additionally, Dr. Eric Dimmitt’s arrival from Cardinal Stritch University has helped the college reinstate our superintendent certificate program to meet the demand for district leaders.
Joining our faculty after completing the 2022-23 Arnold L. Mitchem Dissertation Fellowship, Dr. Blake O’Neal Turner brings a passion for research into inclusivity in the classroom, exemplifying our college’s commitment to educating educators, administrators, mental health counselors and student affairs professionals who make a difference.
