The Institute for Women’s Leadership and the University Honors Program will co-host a WISDOM Conversation on Monday, April 17, at 1 p.m. in Sensenbrenner Hall 304. The session will feature Marquette alumnae Jessie Gomez and Tess Murphy.
Join the IWL for lunch and a reflection on Gomez’s experiences as a first-generation Latina student pursuing graduate school in STEM. Register online to attend.
A writer, filmmaker and friend of Gomez, Murphy will facilitate this WISDOM Conversation spotlighting Gomez’s publication in Today’s Inspired Young Latina and her journey’s companion documentary film.
WISDOM is an ongoing series that highlights women and nonbinary individuals in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) along with related social, behavioral and economic (SBE) science fields.
In addition to discussing the challenges that underrepresented groups face in STEM fields, attendees will be able to talk and network with panelists in small groups. Panelist info will be made available on the IWL website.
All undergraduate and graduate students are welcome to attend this event, along with faculty, staff and community members who are interested in STEM fields.
While panelists are typically women, these events are open to all genders, as allyship is a vital component in conversations about equity.
This will be an in-person event. Lunch will be provided.
