Children with autism spectrum disorder are invited to participate in a summer literacy program and associated research at Marquette.
The Marquette University Summer Communication, Literacy and Enhanced Socialization (MUSCLES) camp will run from Monday, July 11, until Wednesday, July 27, from 8:30 a.m. until noon. Participants should be between 6 and 11 years old, speak English consistently and flexibly and have a current Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
Camp curriculum will be based on a literacy curriculum targeting phonological awareness, word study, vocabulary, comprehension and fluency skills. Additional activities will include art, games, language and social activities. Participants will have the opportunity to learn and interact with other children with and without autism in classes of 10 to 12 children.
