The students of the Department of Counselor Education and Counseling Psychology will host the 21st annual Diversity Gala on Saturday, May 7, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the AMU Ballrooms. This event is hosted to help support the CECP Graduate Student Organization’s Diversity Scholarship.
The student-initiated scholarship encourages an academic, professional and social environment that embraces diversity and encourages people with diverse backgrounds to enroll. It also promotes leadership among people in the fields of counseling and counseling psychology.
The event will feature:
- A keynote address by Sharlen Moore, who serves as a co-founder and director of both the Youth Justice and Urban Underground organizations in Milwaukee. Moore has committed her life to building and sustaining grassroots leadership for change. She has a passion for community justice, which led her to co-found Urban Underground in 2000, a nationally recognized grassroots youth development organization whose members have been at the forefront of youth-led social change in Milwaukee and the region
- A diversity scholarship presentation
- Hors d’oeuvres
- A cash bar (one drink ticket included with registration)
- A silent auction and raffles
Tickets for CECP GSO members and each guest are $20. Tickets for virtual attendees are $10. Tickets for non-CESP GSO members and each guest are $30. To sponsor a GSO student is $20.
