The Department of History and the Center for Urban Research Teaching and Outreach will host “Klement Conversations,” a virtual series based on the annual Klement Lecture, which brings to campus distinguished scholars in American history. Originally devoted to the history of the sectional conflict, the series now includes all fields of American history.
The first Klement Conversation will be presented by Dr. Susan Fitzpatrick-Behrens from California State University, Northridge on Thursday, Nov. 12, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Fitzpatrick-Behrens will discuss the example of the Maryknoll Sisters who collaborated with indigenous Maya to improve health care during Guatemala’s civil war and how service can move “beyond the white man’s burden.”
