The Remote Instruction Experience Survey results and Faculty and Staff Kudos are now available.
Administered in April 2020, the spring 2020 Remote Instruction Experience Survey collected information from students and instructors to better understand their experiences with the transition to remote instruction in response to COVID-19.
The survey asked about access to needed technology and resources, instructional tool usage and satisfaction, experiences with synchronous and asynchronous instruction modes and (for students) experiences with course instructors. This survey was not course specific. 23% percent of students and 37% of instructors responded to the survey.
This survey was developed in consultation with several groups on campus, including the Center for Teaching and Learning, Digital Learning, Information Technology Services, the Committee on Teaching, Academic Senate and student government (MUSG and GSO).
In early May, preliminary results were shared with the Deans’ Council and Provost’s Cabinet. In addition, preliminary results and all student and instructor comments were shared with the COVID-19 Academic Planning Group to support fall 2020 continuity of instruction planning efforts.
In June, detailed results were presented to a faculty/staff consultation group, which includes more than 50 members. As of the publication of this report, the group is in the process of identifying key recommendations and actions derived from the results of the survey related to fall 2020 instruction with the goal of implementing those recommendations prior to the beginning of the semester.
