The residence hall move-in process for fall 2020 will take longer and require more space on campus this year. This is due to changed protocols as a result of COVID-19 (i.e. limited early arrival options and new required cleaning processes).
To allow for a smooth move-in process and minimize disruption across campus, the university asks that all departments and organizations opt to host trainings/orientations virtually. If you choose to keep them in-person, please wait to schedule events until 1) over the Labor Day weekend or 2) once the academic year begins – after Aug. 26.
Additionally, departments should be mindful of student employees’ (who live in the residence halls) work schedules as there are now designated times that students must move into each residence hall. Returning students will not move in this year until midday Monday, Aug. 24, through Tuesday evening, Aug. 25.
These guidelines will help the Office of Residence Life efficiently move nearly 3,200 students into residence halls over the course of three days (from Aug. 22-24), while following social distancing best practices and ensuring clean facilities. The university appreciates everyone’s patience, understanding and flexibility during these times.
