MUPD memorial bike ride and walk, Oct. 10

The Marquette University Police Department invites members of the Marquette community to participate in a memorial bike ride and walk on Saturday, Oct. 10, to honor members of the campus community we have lost during the past year.

Inspired by the memory of MUPD Officer Scott Metz, who passed away in July 2025 while participating in a mountain bike race, the event reflects his passion for cycling and service to the community. Metz led training for the MUPD Bicycle Unit and also provided training for the Milwaukee Police Department Bicycle Unit.

Participants will gather on the east side of the Alumni Memorial Union, with both the ride and walk beginning at 8:30 a.m. No registration is required.

The 10-mile bike ride will follow the Hank Aaron State Trail, travel to and around American Family Field, and return to campus. Those who prefer to walk are invited to participate in a simultaneous memorial walk around the Marquette Mile.

The event is intended as an opportunity for the campus community to come together in remembrance and reflection in honor of those whose lives have touched the Marquette community.
