The McNeely Prison Education Consortium, in conjunction with the Marquette Prison Education Program and the Center for Urban Research, Teaching and Outreach, are hosting a MPEC lecture series event on Thursday, Nov. 5, from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Weasler Auditorium. This will include a film screening and panel discussion of “BEYOND,” a documentary film about healing, community and humanity.
This program is free and open to the public.
The film is set at Sing Sing prison, where a group of incarcerated men organize and prepare for a TED-style event, featuring personal narratives and ideas for changing the prison system. With immersive access to Sing Sing, the film follows the speakers’ emotional journeys from first audition to their final climactic moments on stage.
