Lace up your shoes and join the Marquette community during Family Weekend for the LOVELLSTRONG Legacy Run/Walk on Saturday, Sept. 26. Join alumni, parents, students and friends in the heart of campus to run, jog or walk the 5K route as we celebrate the legacy of Dr. Michael R. Lovell.
The LOVELLSTRONG Run/Walk was first launched by the Marquette University lacrosse program and fellow Marquette student-athletes in 2021, shortly after late President Michael R. Lovell announced that he had been diagnosed with sarcoma, a rare cancer.
Inspired by Dr. Lovell’s passion for Marquette and his personal dedication to running, student-athletes and the university community paid tribute and rallied around Marquette’s 24th president and his courageous battle. The tradition lives on, honoring Dr. Lovell’s remarkable legacy.
In addition to this fall offering in conjunction with Family Weekend, LOVELLSTRONG Legacy Run/Walks are offered during Alumni Reunion Weekend, the Men’s Big East Basketball Tournament in New York and as part of programming surrounding the Marquette vs. Georgetown men’s basketball game in Washington, D.C.
The campus run on Sept. 26 begins and ends at St. Joan of Arc Chapel, following the Marquette Mile in the heart of campus. The event will kick-off with brief remarks at 9 a.m. in the Gratitude Garden outside the chapel. Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m.
Faculty and staff are asked to pre-register. Students can register through the Family Weekend Eventbrite site.
