A new space to support engineering student organizations has opened in Haggerty Hall. The Opus College of Engineering’s Engineering Student Organization Activities Room, located in Haggerty Hall 450, offers a flexible space for students to gather for meetings, events and student organization project work. The Opus College supports over twenty student organizations that focus on professional and social programming for engineering students across majors and interests.
The space is equipped with collaboration tables, discussion chairs, digital whiteboards, a fridge and microwave, an events bulletin board and multiple project and material storage lockers. In addition to offering a space for organized planning and discussion, its design also allows for comfortable, casual gatherings to support community and connection among students.
“Student organizations are at the heart of our engineering community, so we developed this space to help fuel their passionate work and enhance the community feel that makes Marquette feel like home,” says Dr. Kris Ropella, Opus Dean of the Opus College of Engineering. “Our hope is that students take ownership of the space and use it as they explore their engineering curiosity outside of the classroom.”
The Engineering Student Organization Activities Room is available during daytime and evening hours, seven days a week. Engineering student organization leaders interested in gaining keycard access and learning more about the space’s use policies should contact Lisa Chase (lisa.chase@marquette.edu).
