More than 10,000 pounds of gently used clothing, household items, school supplies and other essentials were donated through MarKept during spring move-out, keeping usable items out of landfills and helping prepare for another year of supporting students.
Those items will be available for purchase at the MarKept Market, providing affordable necessities to students as they begin the academic year.
The program’s success depends on volunteer support. During the spring collection period alone, faculty, staff and student volunteers contributed more than 115 hours to collect, sort and organize donations for the sale.
Additional volunteers are needed to support the MarKept Market opening Wednesday, Aug. 26, through Friday, Aug. 28. Faculty and staff are encouraged to sign up for a flexible one- or two-hour shift to help operate MarKept during the sale. To sign up, complete the volunteer form.
