Dear Marquette students, faculty and staff: welcome back to campus. To our new students, welcome to Marquette! For 145 years, our students have been steeped in Catholic, Jesuit education and graduated ready to be men and women for and with others. I am eager to see how you make your mark on this campus.
Catholic, Jesuit education started 478 years ago and with it, the Mass of the Holy Spirit. This Mass is where our community gathers to thank God for the gift of his Son and to seek the guidance and wisdom of the Holy Spirit in the coming year.
Furthermore, this Mass is meant to unite as a community and to ground ourselves in our Mission as we begin the school year.
As such, I’d like to formally invite all of campus to this year’s Mass on Sunday, Aug. 30, at 6 p.m., as well as the picnic afterward.
With classes beginning on Monday, the Mass of the Holy Spirit is the perfect way to kick off the year and prepare yourself to let your light shine and start working toward your goals.
