Jenny Fischer, senior manager of NBA social and digital on-site content and a Class of 2019 Diederich College of Communication alumna, will be the keynote speaker at the Pete and Bonnie Axthelm Memorial Lecture on Friday, Oct. 2.
The lecture will be combined with the Student Sport Summit, the college’s annual conference for sports professionals. Students from across the university will hear from Marquette alumni in sports media, community relations, event planning, public relations, sales and a wide range of other fields. Summit attendees will also have the chance to network with guests.

Fischer has worked for the NBA since 2020, starting as a social and digital content coordinator for the WNBA and G League Ignite. Prior to her time with the NBA, Fischer was a key contributor to the NCAA’s digital and social media championship accounts. During her time at Marquette, Fischer worked for the BIG EAST Conference, FOX Sports, WTMJ and the Milwaukee Brewers, among others.
Outside of her professional accomplishments, Fischer is known for her mental health fundraising and advocacy. Her “Keep Showing Up” t-shirts have raised more than $150,000 for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
Student Sport Summit panels and the Axthelm Lecture will take place in the Alumni Memorial Union. Summit panels will be in rooms 163, 252 and 254, and the Axthelm Lecture will be in the AMU ballrooms. Attendance is free, but attendees are asked to register in advance.
