Rose Howard joins President Kimo Ah Yun on WTMJ’s ‘The Upswing’

Rose Howard, director of enrollment communication and marketing strategy in Undergraduate Admissions, and Sarah Pancheri, president and chief executive officer for Milwaukee World Festival, Inc., joined President Kimo Ah Yun on this month’s episode of 620 WTMJ’s “The Upswing.”

The conversation emphasized Milwaukee’s identity as both the City of Festivals and a vibrant college town, highlighting the strong connection between the city and its universities. President Ah Yun described this relationship as a “marriage between the city and the school,” underscoring the value of students engaging beyond campus. Howard reinforced this idea, encouraging students to view themselves not only as members of Marquette but as active citizens of Milwaukee, while Pancheri expanded the perspective by urging students from all local universities to show their school pride throughout the city, including at Summerfest.

President Ah Yun highlighted recent philanthropic support, including a gift from Daniel S. Jaffee honoring his mentor, former Brewers owner Bud Selig, through an endowment for the Marquette Mentors program. Pancheri emphasized the importance of first jobs, particularly opportunities with Milwaukee World Festival, Inc., as the group reflected on their own early work experiences and shared Summerfest memories.

“The Upswing” highlights the ever-changing world of business and commerce in Milwaukee and across the state of Wisconsin. President Ah Yun is joined each month by an expert from campus to discuss their work.
