Dr. Jill Guttormson named to Milwaukee Business Journal’s ‘Women of Influence’ list

Dr. Jill Guttormson, dean of the College of Nursing, was named to the Milwaukee Business Journal’s annual Women of Influence list, which honors prominent women leaders of Milwaukee-area companies, nonprofits and other organizations of note.

Guttormson’s leadership has been instrumental in the College of Nursing’s growing national profile. The undergraduate program ranked among the top 30 in the country in the latest edition of U.S. News and World Report and has a pair of specialty programs — nurse anesthesia and nurse midwifery — ranked among the national top 40

The college maintains a graduation rate of 95.79%, well above the national average for a four-year private institution. Guttormson has also overseen the college’s move into a renovated David A. Straz, Jr. Hall and the Direct-Entry Master of Nursing’s move into a similarly transformative building in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. Both moves have helped the college grow its enrollment by 16% over the course of her tenure as dean.

Guttormson has previously been named a Notable Healthcare Leader by BizTimes Milwaukee. She is also an American Thoracic Society Fellow and an active member of the Midwest Nursing Research Society and Sigma Theta Tau International.

This year’s winners will be honored at an awards event on Tuesday, July 16, and in a special section of the Milwaukee Business Journal to be released later that week.
