Marquette CARES Episode 4 explores University Advancement beyond fundraising

The latest episode of the Marquette CARES podcast highlights the role of University Advancement and its direct impact on student care and success at Marquette. The episode features Matt Gwin, managing director of development and strategic initiatives.

Gwin joins host Kelly Albrecht to discuss how University Advancement extends beyond fundraising, serving as a bridge between alumni, donors and students to build a supportive community. Through fundraising, alumni relations and stewardship, the team provides holistic support that touches nearly every aspect of student life.

Listeners will learn how alumni engagement — from mentorship to career opportunities — fosters a cross-generational network rooted in cura personalis, or care for the whole person. Gwin also addresses common misconceptions, emphasizing that University Advancement professionals are relationship-builders and partners in advancing the university’s mission.

Grounded in Jesuit values, University Advancement plays a key role in sustaining opportunity, strengthening community and supporting students both inside and outside the classroom.
