Free financial planning benefit can help avoid tax season surprises

Tax season can be a natural point of reflection when it comes to personal finances. Whether an individual is surprised by an unexpected tax bill or a larger-than-anticipated refund, this time of year offers an opportunity to reassess financial habits and plan for the year ahead. Proactive financial planning can support not only financial wellness, but also emotional and physical well-being, as finances are a common source of stress for many people.

Employees in all stages of life have access to free, year-round financial planning services through Marquette’s partner Francis. A brief overview of the Francis benefit can be found in this informational video

This financial planning benefit connects employees with free financial planners who educate, advise and coach on any money matter, including exploring tax strategies, budgeting, defeating debt, making and managing investments, understanding Social Security, transitioning to retirement, and more.

Francis financial planners have no investment products to sell, so participants can feel confident that they will receive completely objective advice. This service is offered as an employee benefit, part of Marquette’s Total Rewards, and there are no per session fees, so employees can meet with a financial planner as often as they wish.

Spouses are welcome to join as well, and both English and Spanish-speaking financial planners are available to meet with employees. Both on-campus and virtual meetings are available.

To schedule an appointment with a Francis financial planner, either:
