EmpCenter, the university’s timekeeping system, will be upgraded on Thursday, March 19, to provide an improved user experience for all hourly students, staff and managers. The EmpCenter application, including web clock and timesheets, will be unavailable from 6 a.m. through 10 a.m. on March 19 in preparation for the roll-out. Time clocks will remain operational. Please plan accordingly and communicate within your department regarding alternative timekeeping methods during this brief outage period. Regular timekeeping processes will resume as soon as the upgrade is complete.
This upgrade is part of an effort to modernize the system’s user experience while continuing to support the same reliable timekeeping processes our community uses today.
What is changing?
The most noticeable change will be the look and feel of the home (HUB) screen. The changes introduce a refreshed, modern interface designed to make information easier to view and access.

One such change is the dashboard experience using Hub Cards, which are displayed based on a user’s role (employee, manager or both). These cards function as real-time widgets, providing quicker access to commonly used information and actions while keeping familiar processes intact. Users can also add, move or remove cards from their home screen.
Another change is the introduction of assistant messages to help identify and resolve common issues more easily. These messages may appear when entering time or reviewing records, alerting you to items such as missed punches, I-9 reminders and time-off requests.

Important to note
There will be no change to EmpCenter functionality or timekeeping processes. Employees and managers will continue to:
- Clock in and out as they do today
- Review and approve timesheets
- Request and approve time off
- Review time off balances and exception messages
All existing rules, approvals and workflows will remain the same.
