Dear Marquette community,
I’m writing as a follow up to this morning’s safety alert text and email regarding an armed robbery and sexual assault that occurred in the Marquette University Police Department patrol zone. To ensure privacy for the student involved, we will not be sharing additional details beyond this morning’s safety alert. The university’s victim advocate services are providing confidential, holistic support to the victim and the entire campus community prays for the student’s healing.
The only person responsible for a crime is the perpetrator. Crime alerts are sent to Marquette students and employees in accordance with federal law requiring universities to disclose information about crime to help prevent similar crimes and to identify offenders.
The safety and security of our campus community is our highest priority. MUPD is working around the clock on the investigation of the perpetrator of this crime, and we have extra officers on duty patrolling our neighborhood.
This situation will affect people in different ways, and there are many support services available to you.
