The Telehealth Research Community will present “Possibility, Peril, and Uncertainty: Emerging Understandings and Research on Young People’s Thinking About AI” on Friday, Feb. 6, at 1 p.m. in Johnston Hall 134.
The presentation will draw on recent research by Dr. Gabriel Velez, associate professor of educational policy and leadership in the College of Education, and Dr. Larry Xu, assistant professor of strategic communication in the Diederich College of Communication, examining how young people use and think about artificial intelligence, including how they reason through its possibilities, risks and uncertainties.
The session will highlight emerging evidence on AI-related judgment, emotional reactions and meaning-making, identify key blind spots and consider implications for future research and the design of educational and health-focused interventions.
