Marquette University has partnered with StitchStudio, an applied AI platform built for the insurance industry, to create a cutting-edge experiential learning opportunity. Students using StitchStudio will have access to a tool for turning complex datasets into insights that improve underwriting decision-making.
The program connects students in Marquette Business with AI experts from StitchStudio. With support from mentors, students examine how third-party data can be used to better inform underwriting decisions throughout the insurance lifecycle.
“Our partnership with StitchStudio highlights Marquette Business’s commitment to providing real-world learning opportunities for students,” said Jae Junkunc, director of the Insurance Leadership Program at Marquette University. “We are fortunate to have StichStudio’s leadership team mentor insurance leaders of tomorrow.”
Over the course of the four-week program, participants identify data analysis practices that improve outcomes for insurance companies and their clients. With a focus on publicly available, third-party datasets, students gain firsthand experience using data to optimize insurance processes such as underwriting, claims adjudication and risk assessment.
Participants must first identify relevant datasets, such as catastrophe, climate and socioeconomic information. After confirming validity and examining use in the underwriting process, student teams present a comprehensive summary showcasing data sources, use cases and value potential.
This innovative partnership is one of the latest impactful initiatives supported by the Insurance Leadership Program at Marquette University.
