Mission and Ministry completing ‘Act with’ series with ‘Grace’ for Mission Week

Mission Week heart

The Office of Mission and Ministry is concluding the four-year “Act with” series with this year’s Mission Week theme of “Act with Grace.”

Mission Week begins Sunday, Feb. 1, at 6 p.m. with Mass at the Church of the Gesu and runs through Friday, Feb. 6.

The four-year “Act with” arc included themes of kindness, faith and care.

“Each theme in previous years was chosen for what the campus needed at that time, and this year’s theme is no different,” said Rev. John Thiede, S.J., vice president for mission and ministry. “Acting with Grace means listening before speaking, thinking before acting, realizing that small acts of kindness and charitable words go a long way.”

“Act with Grace marks the end of a four-year series, but we’re grateful for all of the themes and experiences of past years and excited for the events and speakers planned for this year’s Mission Week.”

As always, there will be a week full of events, including the Opening Mass on Sunday, the Women’s Luncheon, the Faber Center’s Catching Fire Breakfast and the Ignatian Peacemaking Lecture sponsored by the Center for Peacemaking, a keynote lecture and some new and innovative events to encourage more student participation this year.

More information and a full list of events will be shared soon.

Act with Grace thematic statement

Grace is both a gift and an invitation.
Freely given, it asks only that we receive
and then extend it outward.

In a world that rushes to judge,
grace calls us to pause,
to see the good in others and in ourselves.
It invites us to rebuild what’s been fractured
and to live in the freedom of forgiveness.

Grace transforms ordinary moments into holy ones:
a kind word, a second chance,
a hand extended in peace.

God of grace,
teach us to act as you act.
To love without condition.
To forgive without measure.
To give without expectation.

May your grace move through us,
and in doing so, make us whole.
