Draylin Pickett, a College of Communication junior triple majoring in public relations, digital media and theatre arts, is the recipient of the 2025 Olson Family Endowed Communication Award.
The Olson Award is given to students who have “demonstrated personal initiative in the exploration of current and emerging communication technologies, who have a strong balance between classroom and experiential learning, and who have excellent oral and written communication skills.” The scholarship is named for the family of Patricia and Dr. Robert Olson, who endowed the scholarship fund with a $1 million donation in 2013.
Pickett is heavily involved in the Marquette Theatre program; he acted in and sound designed their recent production of “Fairview” as well as their production of the musical “Bright Star” in the 2024-25 season. He is a resident assistant in Mashuda Hall, a comm coach for the College of Communication, a historian for the Marquette University Players Society and a digital program assistant for the O’Brien Fellowship in Public Service Journalism.
