Power outage to impact nine buildings, Oct. 16

As part of the South Fiber Loop Project, an electrical power outage will occur for nine university buildings beginning at 6 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16. The power outage will last for six to 10 hours in all buildings (with the exception of the Commons, which will be without power for three to four hours).

Affected buildings include:

  • Gesu Parish Center and Church
  • Haggerty Museum of Art
  • Johnston Hall
  • Lemonis Center
  • Marquette Hall
  • Raynor Library
  • Sensenbrenner Hall
  • Straz Hall
  • The Commons

All building systems, including electrical, lighting, mechanical and security will be affected. Access to these buildings during the outage will need to be coordinated with Facilities Planning and Management and/or the Marquette University Police Department.

There will be no power outage on Friday, Oct. 17, unless there are unforeseen problems that occur the day prior. Facilities Planning and Management will provide a status update on Oct. 16 when work is completed and electrical power is restored.

Facilities Planning and Management recommends all areas affected turn off and, if possible, unplug all sensitive equipment in preparation for the power outage. This equipment can be restarted after power has been fully restored.

Forward any questions and or concerns regarding this full power outage to Matt Ruddat at (414) 288-5230.
