Marquette Democracy Project to host human rights activist Pia Klemp, Nov. 5

The Marquette Democracy Project will host Pia Klemp on Wednesday, Nov. 5, at 4 p.m. in Wehr Physics 153.

Klemp is a German biologist who has spent over a decade in human rights activism. She is best known for her work commanding migrant rescue ships in the Mediterranean Sea, activity that led to her arrest by the Italian government in 2017. Klemp is also active in animal rights issues. She will discuss her experiences and motivations in dedicating her life to activism.
