Celebrate Dia de los Muertos with Campus Ministry

Campus Ministry will celebrate Día de los Muertos with an ofrenda in the AMU second floor rotunda from Tuesday, Oct. 28, through Monday, Nov. 3.

The ofrenda will be set up Oct. 28 from noon to 3 p.m., and all members of the Marquette community are welcome to participate. Visitors can place a photo of a loved one who has died on the altar.

A prayer service and blessing of the altar will take place Thursday, Oct. 30, at 4 p.m.

Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a significant Latine cultural celebration that honors deceased loved ones, reflecting the belief that these relationships continue. The celebration coincides with the Catholic observances of All Saints Day (Nov. 1) and All Souls Day (Nov. 2), which emphasize hope in Jesus for both the living and the dead.

Those wishing to submit photos of loved ones or seeking more information can contact Cecille Medina-Maldonado, assistant director of Multicultural Ministry, at cecille.medina-maldonado@marquette.edu
