AHPRC announces 2025-26 Student Research Initiative awardee

The Marquette AHPRC Student Research Initiative supports undergraduate research across campus and advances the mission and global goals of the Athletic and Human Performance Research Center. Awardees receive $5,000 during the academic year to pursue their projects.

This year, Caroline Donahue, a junior in exercise physiology and a direct-admit student in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program, was selected to study “Exercise Offset Analgesia in Older Adults Living in Retirement Communities” under the mentorship of Dr. Marie Bement, professor of physical therapy in the College of Health Sciences.

The project aims to enhance non-pharmacological pain management and improve the aging experience for older adults in retirement communities by introducing a novel, pain-relieving exercise prescription paradigm.
