Take part in Valley Week, Sept. 20-27 

Valley Week, which showcases unique and fun ways to experience nature, destinations and history in the Menomonee River Valley, runs from Sept. 20-27. The event features the valley’s world-class companies, popular destinations and outdoor recreation.

Saturday, Sept. 20 

  • UEC native plant sale and take it outside day – biking | 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Urban Ecology Center (1500 E. Park Place) 
    • Join Menomonee Valley Partners for a free opportunity to learn the basics of biking. Borrow a bike and a helmet and choose between a guided group ride or an independent ride through Three Bridges Park on paved paths. The UEC also invites the community to join their Native Plant Sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

Monday, Sept. 22 

  • Valley Business Bags Tournament | 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Harley-Davidson Museum (400 W. Canal St.) 
    • Get your tossing arm ready for bags, brews and bragging rights at the annual Valley Week Bags Tournament as you toss your way to the top. Registration to compete is closed. 

Wednesday, Sept. 24 

  • Electronics recycling and coffee | 7 a.m. to noon at Stamm Tech (1207 W. Canal St.) 
    • Whether you’re on your way to work or commuting on the Hank Aaron State Trail, you’re invited to get charged up with some free coffee.  Before you head out, gather up those old electronics from your home and office and bring them down to Stamm Tech. 
  • Happy Hour cruises | 4 p.m., 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. starting at Twisted Fisherman Crab Shack (1200 W. Canal St.) 
    • Enjoy a relaxing and casual 45-minute happy hour float along the Menomonee River and Menomonee Canal. Hear about some of the Valley’s history and upcoming developments along the way. Cost is $20 per person

Thursday, Sept. 25 

  • Job fair | 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Standard Electric Supply Co (222 N. Emmber Lane) 
    • Explore all of the job opportunities in the Menomonee River Valley. This fair offers onsite interviews, along with the opportunity to meet with Valley companies that are hiring right now. It is free to participate. 
  • Valley Week Sunset Kayak Tour | 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. starting at Milwaukee Kayak Company @ Twisted Fisherman (1200 W. Canal St.) 
    • Join a relaxed paddle into the sunset on the Menomonee River. Learn about the history of the Menomonee River Valley and see the city from a different perspective. On the way back, participants will switch on their headlamps and enjoy a moonlit trip back past the Harley-Davidson Museum and other sights. Pre-registration is required – $45 per single kayak, $85 for a tandem kayak/canoe. 

Friday, Sept. 26 

  • $25 Friday Fish Fry Fundraiser | 11 a.m. to 9  p.m. at MOTOR Bar and Restaurant (400 W. Canal St.) 
    • Enjoy a $25 all-you-can-eat fish fry in honor of MVP’s 25th anniversary. A portion of proceeds from each fish fry meal will be donated to MVP to continue the important work of making the Menomonee Valley a welcoming place to work, play and visit. 

Saturday, Sept. 27 

  • St. Paul Design District Tour | 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. 
    • See the Valley’s rich collection of historic industrial buildings, some of which have been renovated or repurposed for locally owned businesses showcasing furniture, lighting, decorative stone, antiques and more, on a tour of the St. Paul Avenue Design District. Participants will stroll through the street’s history, visit businesses, and hear how St. Paul Avenue has transformed over the last 100 years. Register online
