Marquette spotlighted in ‘Dream School: Finding the College That’s Right for You’

Marquette is one of 75 schools spotlighted in New York Times bestselling author Jeff Selingo’s new book, “Dream School: Finding the College That’s Right for You.”

“Dream School” shifts the focus from how colleges pick students to how students can better pick colleges. The goal of the book is to give families permission to think more broadly about what signals a “good” college and provide the tools to discover their dream school.

Backed by unparalleled research — and a survey of more than 3,000 parents — “Dream School” highlights 75 accessible and affordable colleges that excel in job prospects after graduation, hands-on learning experiences and a sense of belonging.

“With an 81% six-year graduation rate and average annual earnings of $76,417 10 years after enrollment, Marquette produces strong student outcomes compared to those of peer institutions,” Selingo wrote. The book also notes Marquette’s placement in the heart of Milwaukee and students’ access to internship and job opportunities at major employers in the region.

Selingo, a New York Times bestselling author of three books, has written about colleges and universities for more than two and a half decades. A regular contributor to The Atlantic, New York Times, and Wall Street Journal, Selingo is a special advisor to the president and professor of practice at Arizona State University. He also writes a bi-weekly newsletter on all things higher ed called Next and co-hosts the podcast, Future U. He is the former top editor of The Chronicle of Higher Education

“We’re thrilled that Marquette is included in Jeff Selingo’s new book, ‘Dream School,’” says Andy Schneider, dean of admissions. “His work has long been a trusted voice in higher education, and to be recognized by such a credible leader in the field highlights the value of a Marquette education and affirms the meaningful work our admissions team and campus community do every day to connect with students and families.”
