The Department of Theology, in partnership with the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, Sacred Heart Seminary and School of Theology, Saint Francis de Sales Seminary, the St. Irenaeus Institute, and several other co-sponsoring institutions, will host a major academic conference commemorating the 1,700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea and the 60th anniversary of the conclusion of the Second Vatican Council.
Both milestones in the development of Christian thought and the Catholic theological tradition, these two councils provide the basis for the lectures, presentations and panels at the Legacies of Nicaea I and Vatican II: An Inheritance Unfolding conference on campus Friday, Sept. 5, and Saturday, Sept. 6.
Two sessions are free and open to the public:
- An address by Bishop Gregory John Mansour, Sept. 5 at 3:45 p.m. in the AMU Monaghan Ballrooms
- “What Do We Do with the Conciliar Tradition Today? Practical and Pastoral Insights” on Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. in the Weasler Auditorium
Visit the conference website for more information and a full schedule.
