The Diederich College of Communication will host a screening of a session with New York Times best-selling author and leadership guru Cy Wakeman on Thursday, Sept. 25, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Johnston Hall screening room. She will speak on “Fearless Leadership: Embracing Discomfort and Accountability to Achieve Greatness.”
The pop-up event will be held in partnership with the Plank Center for Leadership in Public Relations, an organization dedicated to empowering and uplifting the next generation of leaders in PR. Wakeman will share her insights live from the University of Alabama.

Wakeman is a drama researcher, international leadership speaker and consultant. In 2001 she founded Reality-Based Leadership, a professional training and coaching company which provides live and virtual training solutions.
She is the author of four books: “Reality-Based Leadership: Ditch the Drama, Restore Sanity to the Workplace and Turn Excuses Into Results” (2010); “The Reality-Based Rules of the Workplace: Know What Boosts Your Value, Kills Your Chances, and Will Make You Happier” (2013); “No Ego: How Leaders Can Cut the Cost of Workplace Drama, End Entitlement, and Drive Big Results (2017);” and her newest release, “Life’s Messy, Live Happy” (2022).
