
The Center for the Advancement of the Humanities will host “The 1900s: 1984 and Totalitarianism” on Thursday, Sept. 25, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in The Commons Room 216. Snacks will be provided.
The panel discussion will examine George Orwell’s classic novel “1984” through the lenses of history, surveillance, propaganda and resistance. Faculty will connect Orwell’s vision to past events and contemporary issues.
The event is the first in “The 1900s,” a four-part series of panel discussions on the social and political movements that shaped the 20th century.
