Counseling services and pastoral support are available to faculty, staff and students as the Marquette community continues to mourn the loss of student-athletes Noah Snyder and Scott Michaud.
Additional support is being provided to members of Marquette Athletics, the College of Business Administration and the College of Health Sciences, and students in the residence halls.
- Members of the university’s Counseling Center and Campus Ministry are available to provide support services to students for coping with grief and loss.
- Counseling Center staff are available 24/7 by calling (414) 288-7172; Walk-in service is available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Staff are available to support students immediately if needed.
- If you are concerned about a student, please submit a CARE referral. This will ensure the student receives information regarding resources as well as follow-up contact.
- The Marquette Employee Assistance Program is available 24/7 for all employees and members of their households. You may reach LifeMatters by calling 1-800-634-6433 or through their website. Use Password: MU1.
- EAP was on site with two counselors Monday, Sept. 8, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to meet with employees one-on-one and in group settings.
- Guidance and support are being provided to faculty members on how to navigate grief in the classroom.
- Faculty and staff who would like a member of the Counseling Center team to be present in classes this week should contact Brenda Lenz, director of the Counseling Center.
- The Center for Teaching and Learning (Raynor Library 326) is offering drop-in one-on-one consultations for instructors seeking help in the classroom Monday, Sept. 8, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and by appointment for the remainder of the week.
- The Faber Center offers pastoral support to all faculty and staff. Visit the Faber Center at Schroeder Complex 111 or call (414) 288-4545. The Office of Mission and Ministry and the Jesuit community are also available for support.
- Marquette’s sacred spaces are accessible for prayer and reflection. St. Joan of Arc Chapel tours have been canceled this week to ensure the chapel will serve as a space of solace and prayer.
- A Taize Prayer will be held Monday, Sept. 8, at 7 p.m. in St. Joan of Arc Chapel.
