Arrupe Center celebrates second year with growth and expansion

The Arrupe Center for Community Service and Social Responsibility is celebrating one year since its signage was installed in the Alumni Memorial Union.

Over the past year, more than 1,000 Marquette students contributed more than 19,800 hours of community service through programs including the Burke Scholars, Backpack Program and Neighborhood Kitchen.

Despite challenges, including a pause in the AmeriCorps 414 Fellows program in April, the center supported more than 5,000 hours of early literacy work at Next Door and remains committed to continuing this effort.

The year also brought new achievements, including hosting the ninth annual Justice in Action Conference with keynote speaker Joanne Williams, launching Iggy’s Market to combine basic needs, sustainability and career support, and becoming home to Marquette Votes to boost civic engagement.

The center also welcomed staff promotions and began expanding its team.

The Arrupe Center looks forward to building on this work and hosting its 10th Justice in Action Conference in March 2026.
