The 16th Street Bridge will close to motor, bicycle and pedestrian traffic between W. Clybourn Street and S. Emmber Lane for rehabilitation work beginning Monday, Oct. 6. The bridge will be closed for the remainder of the project, which is expected to be completed in October 2026.
Two-way traffic will be accommodated between S. Emmber Lane and W. Pierce Street. The Milwaukee County Transit Service will implement a two-directional detour for Route 24 throughout the project.
Pedestrian access will be maintained on the stairways at St. Paul Avenue and Canal Street.
