Marquette welcomes Class of 2029 | Move-in Day recap and photo gallery

Marquette welcomed more than 1,930 members of its Class of 2029 on move-in day; first-year students represent 39 states, two U.S. territories and 19 countries.

Blessings at multiple residence halls for new students and their families by Rev. John Thiede, S.J., vice president for mission and ministry, highlighted move-in festivities as the Class of 2029 arrived on campus to begin the 2025-26 academic year.

New Student Orientation will take place Wednesday, Aug. 20, through Sunday, Aug. 24. A full schedule of events is available on Marquette Today.

The first day of New Student Orientation features the Family Liturgy at 6 p.m. in the Varsity Theatre, and New Student Convocation, which will follow at 7:30 p.m. in the Al McGuire Center. Convocation, considered the formal welcome to Marquette for new students and their families, includes remarks by President Kimo Ah Yun.

Undergraduate Class of 2029 fast facts

  • 1,933 students from 39 states, two U.S. territories and 19 countries
  • Nearly 21,000 students applied
  • About 33% students of color, Marquette’s most diverse class on record
    • Above 30% for the sixth-straight year and seventh time since 2017
  • 22% are first-generation college students
    • 10th-straight year with over 20% first-gen students
  • The Class of 2029 boasts an average GPA of 3.60, and standardized tests scores from those who submitted them improved from the previous class. The average SAT score was 1294 and the average ACT score was 27.93.
    • 13% of the class was accepted and committed to the highly competitive Honors Program
  • 38% of the class hails from Wisconsin, while 37% hails from Illinois
  • 130 students attended Jesuit high schools
