The Princeton Review this week released its annual best college rankings. Marquette was again named on the list of the “Best 391 Colleges.” The university is also featured in several sub-categories, notably ranked No. 1 in the country for engagement in community service for the second year in a row.
Marquette was also ranked in the following categories:
- 6th in Best-Run Colleges
- 14th in Happiest Students
- 20th in Most Religious Students
- 21st in Best College Library
- 23rd in Friendliest Students
“The colleges we profile in our ‘Best Colleges’ book are a truly select group. They constitute only about 15% of America’s nearly 2,400 four-year institutions” said Rob Franek, editor-in-chief of The Princeton Review and the book’s lead author. “While they vary by locale, type, size and campus culture, each one offers its students an academically outstanding undergraduate education. In our opinion, they are the nation’s best undergraduate colleges and ideal choices for students seeking their ‘best-fit’ college.”
The Princeton Review does not rank the colleges in the book hierarchically, from 1 to 390. However, the book has 50 categories of ranking lists. Each list names the top 25 schools (of those in the book) in its category. The ranking lists are entirely based on The Princeton Review’s surveys of 170,000 students at the 391 schools in the book. The 89-question survey asked students to rate their colleges on dozens of topics and report on their campus experiences at them. Information on the student survey process and methodology for the ranking lists is on The Princeton Review’s website.
