‘Whirling Tennure’ installation walkthrough and discussion with artist Roy Staab, July 19

Join artist Roy Staab and John Riepenhoff, executive director of Sculpture Milwaukee, for a free public walkthrough of “Whirling Tennure,” an ephemeral sculpture installed in the newly created gathering space between the Haggerty Museum of Art and the College of Nursing, on Saturday, July 19, at 1 p.m.

Staab is renowned for his transitory artworks designed to last only a short time. His pieces are particularly noted for their geometrical qualities and utilization of natural materials. “Whirling Tennure” features saplings from the Lynden Sculpture Garden and roadside reeds. See Staab’s work both outside and inside the museum in The Mary L. Nohl Fund Fellowships for Individual Artists 2024 at the Haggerty Museum through Aug. 2.

Following the walkthrough, Kim Miller’s Social Choreography will share SOLAR REVOLUTION, celebrating the un-birthday of a subject without an object. Kim Miller’s Social Choreography includes Angela Frederick, Sydney Bannach and others. This performance will take place alongside Roy Staab’s “Whirling Tennure.”
