Marilyn Jones, director of the Lemonis Center for Student Success, was named to BizTimes Milwaukee’s list of Notable Latino Leaders.
As the inaugural director of the Lemonis Center for Student Success, Jones leads Marquette University’s central hub for wraparound services for students across all majors, academic abilities and backgrounds, furthering Marquette’s commitment to support students from the moment they step on campus until they graduate.
Consisting of seven anchor programs, the Lemonis Center serves as a physical manifestation of Marquette’s Student Success Initiative, providing holistic support through academic coaching and tutoring, career guidance and programming that provides a sense of belonging.
Over 8,300 unique visitors utilized the Lemonis Center’s services in its first academic year. Use of services was up across the board, including a 46% increase in resume reviews, a 26% increase in tutoring usage and a 22% increase in academic coaching sessions. The Ask Me Desk, which serves as a first point of contact when students are not sure who to turn to for guidance, responded to 1,550 inquiries throughout the year.
Two alumna were also named to the list:
- Alexandra Appenzeller, shareholder at von Briesen & Roper s.c.
- Francesca Mayca Wegner, president and chief possibilities officer of Hispanic Professionals of Greater Milwaukee)
Notable Latino Leaders is part of BizTimes Milwaukee’s Notable series, which recognizes leaders in the southeastern Wisconsin business community.
