Annual physical exams — when a health care provider performs a routine examination to assess one’s overall health — are one of the most important ways to maintain health. Annual physicals often include screenings for various items critical to wellness, including blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes, as well as heart, lungs, skin and mental health. They also help maintain a relationship with a provider which can help in case an illness occurs throughout the year. Furthermore, taking part in annual physicals can vastly increase the probability of early detection of serious conditions, including cancer, heart, lung and neurological diseases, which can significantly increase the ability to treat such ailments.
The My Wellness program aims to support employees and their spouses to identify and meet with a primary care provider on an annual basis and provides tangible incentives for doing so. Those who have an annual PCP visit can earn 200 My Wellness points, which is half of the maximum 400 points that can be earned in the My Wellness program year, thus earning at least the Level 2 contribution towards a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA) if enrolled in a Marquette medical insurance plan. Additionally, in-network preventive care is covered at 100% if enrolled in either of the Marquette medical insurance plans, making a PCP visit an even more feasible way to participate in the My Wellness program. For information on how to earn these points, check out the My Wellness Program informational page.
While the 2024-25 My Wellness program year is ending Aug. 15, any employee or their spouse who visits their PCP between Aug. 16-31 can still earn 200 points for the 2024-25 program year. Those who visit their PCP in this timeframe and wish to earn the 200 points should complete the PCP Verification Form with their doctor and email it to benefits@marquette.edu by Aug. 31. The My Wellness Program informational page provides more information on this as well as other activities that can earn points.
While the current My Wellness program year is ending soon, be on the lookout for information about the new program year in late August or early September.
