Marquette undergraduate admissions counselors Gabriella Marquez and Phil Jones each received the Rising Star Award from the Wisconsin Association for College Admissions Counseling at the organization’s recent annual conference.
The award honors college and high school professionals who exemplify excellence and dedication in their first five years in the admissions/counseling profession.
Marquez, Arts ’20, and Jones, Comm ’24, joined the Office of Undergraduate Admissions on the same day in Aug. 2024. Marquez works with students and families from eastern Wisconsin, Texas and Oklahoma, while Jones works with those from Racine and Kenosha counties, as well as the St. Louis area.
“Phil and Gabriella have both truly earned this award from WACAC,” said Andy Schneider, dean of admissions. “They have each shown great progress and professional growth in their first year as counselors, while always treating every family that calls or walks through our doors with the utmost care.”
