Marquette mourns the loss of Rev. John Patrick Donnelly, S.J., professor emeritus of history in the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences, who died Friday, June 13. He was 90.
Father Donnelly taught history at Marquette from 1971 until 2014. He received the Faculty Award for Teaching Excellence in 1988 and wrote several books and many scholarly articles.
A Milwaukee native and son of two Marquette graduates, Father Donnelly entered the society of Jesus in 1952. After ordination he earned a Ph.D. in history at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, July 5, at 11 a.m. at St. Camillus Jesuit Community. A livestream will be available at beckerritter.com.
