Marquette Business hires Jae Junkunc to lead new insurance program

Insurance executive Jae Junkunc is joining Marquette Business as the head of its new Insurance Leadership Program. Junkunc most recently worked at Northwestern Mutual as vice president of corporate strategic planning.

“I am thrilled to welcome Jae into this new role,” says Keyes Dean of Business Administration Andrew DeGuire. “We see a lot of potential in this insurance program because of our strong employer partnerships and needs of the industry. Jae is the right person to further develop both those aspects while ensuring that we provide the best education possible to future leaders in this industry.”

Junkunc has almost three decades of experience in the financial sector, with the last 17 years coming in insurance. Prior to her time at Northwestern Mutual, Junkunc was a vice president at Prudential Financial, managing strategy for its group insurance division. Her oversight played a key role in growth of an insurance carrier with over $4 billion in annual premiums. She also held senior roles at MassMutual.

“I’m excited to bring the knowledge, contacts and hands-on experiences from my career in insurance to Marquette,” Junkunc says. “Wisconsin is one of the most exciting markets in the country for insurance carriers. I’m looking forward to showing students just how many opportunities are out there in the industry, as well as helping them forge their own path into it.”

Marquette Business offered its first insurance class in Fall 2023, co-taught by Instructor of Practice Lora Reinholz and Insurance Executive-in-Residence Mark Afable. It plans to add further coursework and applied learning experiences in the upcoming academic year.
