Global Medical Brigades is an international movement of students and medical professionals working alongside local communities and staff to implement sustainable health systems. The organization works in remote, rural and under-resourced communities in Honduras, Panama, Nicaragua and Ghana which would otherwise have limited to no access to health care.
Marquette’s Global Brigades Medical Chapter seeks gently used Marquette or Brewers T-shirts that are blue, yellow, white or gray in sizes small through 3XL for its trip to Panama over winter break.
During the medical clinic days, those involved in Global Brigades do not wear scrub tops to avoid being mistaken for healthcare providers. With your donations, MU Global Brigades can avoid purchasing uniform attire. This money instead provides additional scholarships to students and makes the experience more financially feasible.
The organization also seeks donations of toothpaste, toothbrushes and floss from local dental offices or businesses.
Additionally, any dental donations will be used and given to the community members during clinic days to provide sustainable dental care.
If interested in donating, email marquettegb@gmail.com. Monetary donations can be made online to help offset the individual student donation goal.
Those interested can also support Global Brigades by purchasing supplies from its soon-to-come Amazon Wish List.
