While attending a men’s lunch at the Faber Center, the Center’s Director Michael Dante offered a reflection on spring as a time of growth and renewal. He asked us to consider how we are participating in that renewal in our own lives. For me, that has meant getting outside with my kids and taking them on wagon rides, helping them learn how to ride bikes, connecting with neighbors and simply being present in the fresh air. For you, that could look very different, whether that’s gardening, getting active outside or enjoying the outdoors with loved ones.
That growth and renewal doesn’t end with the spring. It carries into the summer. In several meetings, I’ve heard President Kimo Ah Yun encourage faculty and staff to use the summer as a time to pause, rest and recharge. While much of our work continues even when students are away, we should give ourselves permission to embrace the season’s slower pace and prioritize our own well-being.
And while many students are on summer break, wellness doesn’t take a break. For any students who remain on campus, whether enrolled in summer classes or conducting research, please know that all services in the Wellness + Recreation remain available:

For faculty and staff, I invite you to consider using our spaces as part of your own summer wellness. We’ve recently hosted several departments in the new Swift Multipurpose Suite (for 50 participants) and new outdoor terrace on the third floor in the LOVELLSTRONG Center for Well-Being.
These spaces are available for faculty and staff meetings, retreats or other events. Depending on availability and operating hours, we are also happy to reserve pickleball, basketball or volleyball courts for your team to use during meeting that day.
To book the Swift Multipurpose Suite, please view the information below for room policies and the booking process!
To our students, I hope you have time to focus on your wellness during the summertime and know that we are here to help you in any way. To our staff and faculty, thank you for everything you do to help build a thriving Marquette community!
Be Well,
Luis de Zengotita

Swift Multipurpose 3 Booking Guide
Overview: The Swift Multipurpose (WR326) suite is a large meeting space within the LOVELLSTRONG Center for Well-Being on the third floor of the Wellness + Helfaer Recreation facility. Adjacent to the room is our terrace that has seating and ample space for outdoor programming. While not directly bookable, users of the multipurpose suite can access the terrace directly from WR326.
Suite capacity: The room can host up to 52 participants and has technology available to be used as a Teams meeting room (camera, displays, microphones, interface panel). The room contains 12 movable tables with 52 chairs.
Availability: The hours of availability will be aligned with the hours of operation for the Helfaer Wellness + Recreation facility. These will vary by semester and time of year, so please check the website for the most recent hours. Any booking requests outside of operating hours will require a special request (see below).
Events (setup/catering): The suite is usable for events, but the W+R staff do not provide any events management support (room setup, breakdown or staffing). Participants are expected to set up the room for large events in the configuration that works best for them and then return the room to its original configuration. There is a long hallway adjacent to the room that can be used to keep catering and supplies. There are no restrictions* on what food room users use and users are expected to work directly with catering or food vendors for setup.
*Please note that the W+HR is an alcohol-free facility as it hosts the Collegiate Recovery Program on the third floor.
ITS Support: We recommend you familiarize yourself with the smart technology in the room if you are having a hybrid meeting beforehand. For any questions about how to use the room’s technology or troubleshooting during a meeting, please call ITS at (414) 288-7799 or email techsquad@marquette.edu.
Booking: The room is available for community use if (1) It is not reserved and (2) The reservation is approved by W+R staff. To request a booking, simply add “WR-Multi-Purpose-Room-326” to your meeting invite in Outlook. Room availability will be visible at time of booking. After your request, W+R staff will confirm the booking or contact you if there are any issues.
Recreation facilities: For any staff/faculty meetings onsite (e.g., retreats) Wellness + Rec is willing to comp any participants who are not regular members with a day pass to the facilities! Additionally, if there is capacity, staff are willing to book a court or two for your team to have some fun together (pickleball, volleyball, basketball, etc.). If you are interested in day passes or booking a court for your meeting/retreat, please email scott.anderegg@marquette.edu.
Special Requests: Special requests outside of the parameters above (outside operating hours, additional furniture, etc.) may require coordination with W+R and external parties for access or resources. Please email any special requests to jennifer.schnuck@marquette.edu.
