Madelyn Filer receives Student Employee of the Year honors

The department of Student Employment announced Madelyn Filer has been selected as the 2025 Student Employee of the Year. Among other on-campus jobs, Filer is an undergraduate research assistant with the Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Engineering Center Outreach Lab.

Some of their many accomplishments in this role include:

  • Collaborating and creating semi-custom ride-on-cars for children with various medical diagnoses under tight (monthly) build days via the Go Baby Go! Milwaukee program.
  • Organizing and running two large volunteer toy build days with the Inclusive Play program in which high school and university students work together to modify switches on 240 adapted toys.
  • Leading efforts with other research assistants and the Children’s Wisconsin therapists to successfully produce and organize pick up for four cars per month — all while Molly Erickson (supervisor) was on maternity leave. Upon Erickson’s return, Filer concisely organized and communicated all that had been done.
  • Co-leading the Honors Peer Mentors, where participants support younger undergraduate students with weekly mentor sessions and teaching support for the Biomedical Engineering Freshman lab.

The office would like to share a thank you to all student employees for the invaluable work they do at Marquette.
