Kellstadt Lecture to discuss online privacy, role of parents in monitoring kids’ internet behaviors, May 2

The 2025 Kellstadt Lecture in marketing will feature Dr. Richard Netemeyer, the Ralph A. Beeton Professor of Free Enterprise at University of Virginia, and Dr. Kristen Walker, professor of marketing at California State-Northridge. It will be held in Room 227 of the Alumni Memorial Union on Friday, May 2 from 11 a.m. to noon.

Registration for the event is free.

This year’s lecture is titled, “Who Knows More Online: Parents or their Children? Exploring the Role of Parents in their Children’s Online Privacy Behaviors.” Professors Netemeyer and Walker will discuss the parental factors that lead to more positive and negative child behaviors online, as well as practical tips for safeguarding child privacy. The combination of growing danger for minors online and widespread passivity about online privacy protection efforts makes this lecture timely.

Lunch will follow the lecture in the AMU’s Lunda Room.

Those with questions can contact Dr. Craig Andrews, Professor and Kellstadt Chair in Marketing at craig.andrews@marquette.edu.
